Forty years later, I am still paying daily
for the fabricated and unfounded mission
of carnage in which I had the misfortune
to participate.
As Vietnam wound down I found that the
ideas that I believed the United States
stood for, such as creating a more
peaceful world where differences would
be respected and the less fortunate
would be aided with food, shelter, and
self-worth, were not going to come to
fruition.
How dim the light of the 70's now burns. The greed, lies and manipulation implemented by our military/industrial complex had me paralyzed. My creative motivation had been weighed down by the massive misallocation of resources, energy, and human life that was practiced daily by the current administration.
I was in a tail spin as to what I could do to help steer my country toward compassion and peace, and away from the "bully on the block" mentality that was and is poisoning the entire planet.
(The Wheel of Peace is an original, 24" design, as part of the artist's personal collection, it is not for sale, but please contact us about a special design of your own.)
As I searched for a light source I was
invited to the "Freedom of Speech" tour,
staged by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, in
August of 2006, in West Palm Beach.
The path of lighting a candle, instead of cursing the darkness, was born.
I want to make peace signs until this gross attempt to spread democracy with violence breaks down.
Because our current administration seems determined to follow this plan, at all costs, I choose to bring forth 1000 points of peace. Thus, I feel that I am placing my love and understanding on a positive course, so that all who come in contact with these peace signs will experience a feeling of love, hope and family, and together we will journey towards a more peaceful earth.
Imagine, a world free from hate and the senseless need to control other human beings.
